When James was a sophomore in High School, his Geometry teacher called him in after class one day. James was terrified that it had something to do with his grades—he knew that they weren’t great, but he didn’t think he was failing. His Geometry teacher started talking to James and they became close. Sometimes, if James missed the bus—which was frequently, he’d get a ride home from Mr. Jenkins. One day, Mr. Jenkins seemed a bit—touchy, and was getting really, really close to James and touched James in ways he feels uncomfortable talking about. Since that moment, James doesn’t trust older men, older women, or anyone for that matter—unless they’re Uncle Charlie, the Lost Boys, Wendy, or Gabry. This is one of the reasons that James doesn’t want to get close to anyone in a relationship/sexual way—it just reminds him of when that happened to him.
